Wiley announces pilot of new AI-powered Papermill Detection service
Wiley has announced the pilot phase of its new AI-powered Papermill Detection service at the London Book Fair. Following extensive internal beta tests, the service will now undergo further testing in partnership with Sage and IEEE.
The Papermill Detection service aims to safeguard research integrity by incorporating six distinct tools to identify potentially compromised research content. These tools check for known hallmarks of papermills, problematic phrases such as “tortured phrases”, unusual publication behavior, researcher identity, AI-generated content, and journal scope. The service will be available as soon as next year.
